Why I Keep Chasing Blue Hour
By AJ Miranda · June 28, 2026
If you've followed my work for any amount of time, you already know — my favorite time to shoot is sunset and blue hour. Look through my portfolio and you'll see what I mean. There's a stretch of maybe twenty minutes after the sun drops where everything goes quiet and the light turns this deep, soft blue that you can't fake.
I plan whole evenings around it. I'll scout a spot in the afternoon, grab food, and just wait. Most of the waiting is the point, honestly. The world slows down right before blue hour, and so do I.
“I'm always chasing that feeling of solitude and calm. Blue hour is where it lives.”
Photography is one of the many creative outlets I stumbled into, but this specific light is the reason I stayed. Every frame in this journal was made chasing some version of that feeling.
