The Columbia River

The Columbia River has been in the background of my photos for years without ever really being the subject. This set is the start of changing that — shot along the Vancouver waterfront at blue hour, using a flash to light whatever was in the foreground and let it separate hard against the sky behind it.

Greenery, branches, and a pair of lifts parked near the old boat dock, all lit up against blues and pinks. It's a technique I'd wanted to try for a while, and it's one I plan to keep adding to.
