Glenn Jackson Bridge

This one's unique in my catalog because I stumbled into it by accident. I've crossed the Glenn Jackson Bridge between Washington and Oregon more times than I can count, and never once thought about what it looks like from underneath — until one day I was driving down Evergreen Highway in Vancouver, trying to clear my head with my camera next to me, and drove right underneath it.

I wondered if there was a way to actually get down there, so I found a way past a fence to reach the spot these were shot from. Looking straight up at it is almost surreal — you don't get a real sense of scale until the pillars are dwarfing you. Catch it at sunrise or sunset and it's one of the most beautiful pieces of manmade structure I've ever seen.
